Have you tasted our Pan Chapin yet?
Come try it! You'll love it!
Our History
Our story began in Antigua, Guatemala, with my family business, where I learned the importance of using original ingredients to cook my favorite regional dishes. Since then, I’ve always dreamed of bringing authentic Guatemalan cuisine to Austin.
In 2016, we started as a small take-out restaurant on Payton Gin and Lamar. We were fortunate to find a new location that can now host 65 customers with plenty of parking. My dream of bringing the taste of Guatemalan food has come alive. We welcome all nationalities to learn about our culture through our food. Bring the whole family!
We are a business with purpose
We have always thought of our business to have a greater purpose, being involved and helping our community is important to us.

Guatemalan food Rinconcito Chapin was such a fun experience. I walked in, and I felt like I was transported to Guatemala. The decorations in the restaurant are so vibrant and beautiful. We were greeted and seated right away, and this place is completely authentic. I felt adventurous so I got scrambled eggs with longaniza and refried beans. But next time, I’m just gonna get the eggs and the longaniza separate. I wasn’t a fan of the meat inside my eggs but it won’t deter me from trying something new. Also, I’m going to order cream instead of cheese. The cheese was quite underwhelming. They had hot coffee, which was average. And I also ordered a potato tamal that was filled with chicken. This was amazing. I really love the texture of the potato outside, and it was extremely hot. So be careful. Don’t burn yourself. I can’t wait to bring my entire family back here sometime. We had such a fun time experimenting with new foods.
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The service was very nice, and the entire place was extremely clean—including the bathrooms, which I always appreciate.
Our server, Amanda, was amazing: very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. She made great recommendations and truly made us feel welcome.
I’m so excited to finally have a place that offers genuine Guatemalan food. The flavors are authentic, the ingredients are high quality, and everything was delicious. They even have live marimba music every Sunday from noon to 3 PM,l. During the time my husband and I visited, they played soft marimba music it made the experience extra special and nostalgic.
They also offer fresh-baked Guatemalan sweet bread and French bread, along with a great selection of frozen goodies. Everything feels thoughtfully made and very authentic.
I highly recommend this place to anyone, especially to those who want to try Guatemalan food for the first time or to anyone who is Guatemalan and missing the real taste of home. This is a genuine place with excellent food, great service, and a warm atmosphere.
Delicious food, as a Guatemalan-American I was delighted to find such an authentic place, wanted to order everything but I will definitely be back to slowly try it all! Thank you for great service and food 🙂
El Riconcito is an authentic Guatemalan restaurant featuring many items on their menu.
The portions are large and I especially loved their aguas frescas (the mango was delicious) and the Garnachas con Camaron.
Food was good and fresh but it took a very long time. It was over 50 minutes from the time I sat down until I got my food. I had the steak, I ordered medium but it came well done. The salsa Verde was not spicy at all. They were very fast at refilling my water and the prices are very affordable. There was a band playing live music and it was Eastern weekend so that might have played a role in the food delay.
